Family Fishing Adventure

The Alaska Family Fishing Adventure is perfect for the family that wants to share an Alaskan experience that features guided hiking, wildlife cruising, and most of all, world class Alaska fishing, 4 days of guided fishing (3 boat trips and 1 beach fishing trip) plus scenic rafting, Kenai Fords cruising a day of calm water paddling. This is the Alaska family fishing vacation for the whole family. Our renowned Kenai RIver Adventure Lodge is the base for your Alaska family fishing trip. The lodge features incredible Kenai River and Kenai Mountain view rooms complete with view decks. Meals are served in the main lodge with lunches served "on the trail". All trips based are on double occupancy - single rooms sometimes available for an additional fee.


​Day 1

Beach Fishing on the Kenai

Your Alaska family fishing trip begins with a pick up at your hotel (3 designated pickup spots) in Anchorage at 7:45am for the scenic and comfortable trip to Great Alaska Adventure Lodge. After a thorough orientation, you’ll enjoy lunch and head to the beach to meet your guide and put on your waders and you'll wade fish on the world famous Kenai river for King, Sockeye, Silver or Pink salmon right in front of your cabins. The kids will learn spin or fly casting skills they'll use on their boat charters later in the week. they'll even learn how to handle fish for release (or the freezer!) and have a great time. After the fishing's over, there's s a little time to relax before the family friendly happy hour and dinner (every night through night 6).

Day 2

Salmon Fishing
Alaska family fishing! Today you'll target Salmon with your guide (4 anglers per boat- larger families will split up into multiple boats) in custom aluminum river boats or drift for stable Mackenzie river drift boats. Depending upon the season, we may back troll drift or cast for the word's largest King Salmon, cast spinners for acrobatic Silver Salmon or even swing a fly for feisty Sockeye salmon, depending upon seasonal availability. Each day unique, every trip, every day is different than the day before. Return to lodge for happy hour and dinners.

Day 3

Wilderness Hiking
We'll enjoy one of the areas incomparable hiking opportunities. Depending upon your families activity level we may take a modest, mostly level trail ending at a waterfall to see salmon leaping towards their spawning grounds or take an energetic hike terminating at spectacular viewpoint overlooking Cook Inlet, the Chugach Mountains and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Day 4

Trophy Trout Fishing
Another great day of guided fishing. Today you'll target our amazing Rainbow Trout in with your guide in one of our custom aluminum Mackenzie river drift boats. Both spinning and fly rods are perfect to access these beautiful fish. Catch and release is practiced on all the native trout species and it's a perfect time to teach the kids the importance of Return to lodge for happy hour and dinner. AK Family Trout Fishing

Day 5

Salmon Fishing
Salmon fishing in specially designed river boat or drift for Salmon and Trout in stable Mackenzie River Drift Boats. Target the world's finest King, Silver or Sockeye Salmon by casting spinners, swinging flies or back trolling the rivers with wiggling plugs, depending upon seasonal availability. Day 6

Offshore Fishing
Your trip will include (if you choose) Offshore Fishing for Halibut, ling cod or even Silver Salmon in either Cook Inlet or Resurrection Bay (species and location vary with availability). Plumb the depths of Kenai Fjords National Park or Cook Inlet, depending upon run timing and weather conditions. One of our favorite days (weather sometimes precludes running offshore). Return to lodge for happy hour, dinner and overnight (like all nights at main lodge. Kid's paddling in Alaska.

Day 7

Refuge Paddling
This morning we'll paddle into the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge- leave civilization behind as you head towards our tent camp on the Moose river. Nesting Swans, giant Moose, Beaver, Lynx and more call this region home. You can also add another day of guided salmon or trout fishing for an additional fee, to extend your Alaska family fishing adventure. (Return to Anchorage flight not included).

Recommended Gear List

However you choose to arrive, please be "dressed for adventure" , as you will not be checking into your rooms until you return to the lodge that evening (approximately 6:00 pm). Please see our pre trip info for specific what to bring list. We recommend bringing a medium size day pack or waterproof dry bag to hold your rain gear and other personal items on your daily fishing trips. That same pack or bag can be your carry-on item when you board the plane heading to and from Alaska, so it will do double duty! All fishing gear is provided on our fishing experiences, but if DO you have your own gear and want to bring it, go for it! Check our our extensive fishing gear lists to see specifics.

Getting There

Our trips include complimentary sightseeing van pickup in Anchorage (we pickup at 4 downtown, mid town and airport locations). Pickup for your Alaska family fishing vacation is typically at 7:30 - 8:00 a.m. (time varies slightly each day based upon number and location of pickups). You'll arrive at the main lodge around 10:30 for check in and orientation. We pick up at the cruise dock in Seward or Whittier for an additional fee. our Denali trips, return is via the historic Alaska Railroad, arriving back in anchorage at approx. 8:30 pm. Cabs will be available (transfers not included- trip ends with return to Anchorage) to take you to your hotel or the airport, whichever you have set up.

You may also choose to drive in yourself via rental car (free parking while you are at the lodge) or catch a commuter air flight (additional fee) to our local airport in Kenai where a Great Alaska driver will shuttle you back to the lodge.

Whats Included

Complimentary van pickup in Anchorage on day one followed by sightseeing transfer to lodge. Trips include our signature meals "nearly world famous" nightly happy hour and appetizers,starting with Lunch on Day 1 to Lunch on Last Day. Plus of course our legendary evening activities like "by the fire" salmon fishing and Moose River wildlife kayaking/paddle boarding. Finally, all necessary equipment for your daily adventures is included in your package along with lodge concierge service.

What's Not Included

Gratuities, Alaska fishing license, resort fee, fish processing/shipping and return to Anchorage on your final day are not included in the package price.
