Day 1

Hotel Pickup, Fly to BearCamp, Afternoon with Bears
You and your kid will be met at 7:30AM at one of three Anchorage pickup points by our private van for the scenic 2 ½ hour trip to Great Alaska. After arriving at our riverside Main lodge, Lunch and orientation is followed by your 50-minute flight to our incredible bear viewing camp in Lake Clark. After the gorgeous flight, you'll spend the afternoon experiencing the King of Alaskan wildlife, the Alaskan Coastal Brown Bear. Our amazing staff will share stories and teach you all about these regal animals, and you'll overnight in our custom hi tech weather-port wilderness tents with propane heat and light, surrounded by an electrified perimeter fence that helps provide a safe Alaskan family trip.

Day 2

Morning with coastal Brown Bears
You'll wake in the wilderness and enjoy your hot coffee on the raised viewing platform while viewing the Bears in the meadow at the foot of Mt. Illiamna. Balance of the morning is spent getting to know the bears. Following lunch, you'll board the plane and head back to the main lodge, to settle into your riverfront cabins with a couple hours to relax before happy hour and dinner. Junior can run down to our private fishing hole and go fishing with our dedicated Beach Guide.

Day 3

Offshore Fishing or Glacier & Wildlife Cruising
Today's a special day for father and son fishing in Alaska, and we'll target offshore fishing in Cook Inlet or Resurrection Bay (depending upon season). Giant Pacific Halibut, Ling Cod, Yellow eye Rockfish and Black Bass plus Silver, Pink and King salmon are all possible targets, but the whales, wildlife and scenery are a close second in these amazing areas. There will be incredible scenery, great wildlife and some tasty treats to take back home! Opt for a day of Glacier cruising and whale watching instead of father and son fishing in Alaska if you choose. Return to lodge about happy hour time. Junior can hit the private fishing hole again.

Day 4

Trophy Trout Fishing
The Kenai river produces some of the most outstanding Trophy Trout fishing in Alaska..and it's an awesome fishery for expert fly fishermen and beginner spin fishers in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge with your son is all it's touted to be - clear mountain water, beautiful drifts, and great fishing. Two to four anglers per boat will drift and wade the Kenai River in search of Char, and especially Rainbow Trout. Back at the lodge in the late afternoon.

Day 5

Kenai Peninsula Salmon Fishing
Another day of Alaska Salmon fishing in a power or drift boat. You may chase the world's largest Kings, cast spinners for aggressive shallow water Silver Salmon or swing flies for the acrobatic Sockeye all depends upon the season and your own preference. (Five-day trips end with a 1/2 day fishing trip this day and a 2:30 checkout.)

Day 6

Your Choice of Freshwater Fishing Adventures
Another great day of trophy fishing. Choose from Kasilof River Salmon or Kenai Rainbow Trout fishing (as in Days 3 & 4). It’s your choice, whatever adds the most to your memories of father and son fishing in Alaska. For more variety, you may opt to wade a mountain stream for Rainbow and Char or hike in to a high mountain lake for fly rod Grayling, depending upon season. Back at the lodge by 2 - 3:00 and a well deserved nap or a few more casts right in front of your cabin door, prior to happy hour, dinner and more evening activities.

Day 7

Half-Day Kenai Salmon Fishing
Your final day with one of our great guides on your Alaskan family trips... Salmon fishing in power or drift boat, returning to the lodge at noon. At approximately 2:30PM, you will depart camp for your commuter flight to Anchorage or be met right at the lodge by your float plane charter back to Anchorage. Note- flights are not included in package price.

Recommended Gear List

However you choose to arrive, please be "dressed for adventure", as there may be a quick turnaround after lunch to get to the airstrip for your flight to bearcamp - flight times are affected by tides and each day is different time-wise. Please see our pre trip info for specific what to bring list for BearCamp. If your trip includes an overnight at BearCamp, be ready to check in with a smaller day pack (1500 cubic inches or less) ready to go, as your BearCamp® experience will typically be scheduled for your first 2 days of your trip (though not always). Maximum traveling gear for flights is 25 pounds per person. If you are on an extended stay with Great Alaska, we'll hold your larger bag back at the lodge while you are at bearcamp. Be sure to bring a water bottle!
